Abstract: As a kind of traffic language, road traffic sign become guideline for trip to millions of traffic participants. It plays more and more important role in standardizing urban traffic behavior, reducing traffic congestion, as well as ensuring traffic safety and smoothness. Exploring the development and current problems of the traffic guide sign system (TGSS) in Beijing, this paper proposes new concepts on the TGSS programming. It emphasizes the unity between the process of programming and designing. Moreover, this paper introduces the design and application of the special road traffic guide sign system during the Beijing Olympic Games. The evidence indicates that the traffic guide sign system reduced the vehicles and audiences’ travel time by 20% in the central area of Olympic stadium. It effectively avoided congestion caused by dense crowd and hard dredge.

摘要： 道路指路标志是一种交通语言，成为千万交通参与者的“出行指南”。它在规范城市交通行为，减少交通拥堵，确保道路的安全和畅通方面，正在发挥着越来越大的作用。通过对北京市的道路指路标志系统的发展和存在的问题进行研究和分析，提出了道路指路标志规划和建设的新理念，同时强调了规划和设计的统一性。对北京奥运会期间的专用道路指路标志系统的设计及应用实践进行相关介绍，实践结果表明，奥运中心区指路标志的引入使车辆和观众的进出场时间节省了约20%，有效避免了奥运周边地区因人员密集、疏导困难造成的拥堵。
