    DONG Jing, CEN Yan-qing
    2011, 11(1): 20-23 .
    Abstract ( )
Capital stock is one of the key indices for macroeconomic analysis and always is measured within the national wealth accounts. Although economists have gathered some experiences in the field of capital stock measurements, no one measures highway capital stock as an independent asset. Since 1998, large investments have formed into a huge public asset of the extensive highway system, and it contributed much to the economic development in China. Therefore, it is very necessary to measure the scale of highway system using this useful index. This study investigates several technical problems on measurement of highway capital stock based on the perpetual inventory method (PIM), adopts the disaggregated and weighted method to calculate the depreciation rate, and then measures the highway capital stock in China from 1952 to 2009. The findings and results may provide useful data to relevant research, and the proposed method can also be used for other fixed assets.

    2011, 11(1): 44-49 .
    Abstract ( )
In order to accurately grasp the characteristics of passenger mustering and evacuation, estimate the passenger mustering capacity, a method of creating arrival passenger is presented from the microscopic simulation view based on distribution fitting to lead time of arrival passenger, the simulation logic model on waiting area of large scale railway passenger station is built. Taking the Dalian railway station for example, the variation curve of passengers in waiting area is plotted and the 95% confidence interval of maximum passenger mustering is [3 638, 3 706]. The sensitivity analysis of influencing factors on variation of passengers in waiting area is performed based on the objective function of maximum assembling passenger. The simulation result showes that the location parameter of lognormal distribution has a significant effect on both the maximum assembling passenger and average waiting time in waiting area, the accompany rate has a significant effect on maximum assembling passenger and the management mode of check in has only a significant effect on average waiting time.

    ZHU Lin,YU Lei,ZHAO Na-le,GUO Ji-fu,WEN Hui-min
    2011, 11(1): 50-55 .
    Abstract ( )
Deploying bus lanes on urban expressways is considered as an important strategy to ease the traffic jam on expressways, which has received increased attention from the government agencies in Beijing. The primary objective of this paper is to use the advanced simulation approach to study the traffic impacts of bus lanes on urban expressways. In this paper, we select the western 3rd ring-road expressway as the study network, and design four bus lane alternatives, considering the deploying section, the form of bus lane, the configuration of bus stop, the traffic organization of ramp area, and the adjustment of bus lines. Then, we simulate and evaluate the scenarios using the INTEGRATION model. From the analysis results of two indices, i.e. average travel speed and distribution of traffic operational condition, it is found that although the infrastructure and traffic conditions meet the deploying requirements, the traffic indices results of the western 3rd ring-road decreased, and deploying bus lanes cannot improve the traffic efficiency. The key constraining factor is that separating automobiles and buses will complicate lane-changing and entry and exit of traffic near ramps. Therefore, it is suggested that such deployment be coordinated with the ramp control and the optimization of bus lines to improve the effects.

Variable-Bandwidth Progression Optimization in Traffic Operation
    HU Pei-feng,TIAN Zong-zhong,YUAN Zhen-zhou,JIA Shun-ping
    2011, 11(1): 61-72 .
    Abstract ( )
Attempts are often made to find an optimal coordinated control plan for a group of traffic signals in urban areas, such that platoons of vehicles can proceed through a continuous series of green lights without stopping, thereby reducing considerable unnecessary delay. One main objective of coordinated control is to provide the maximum bandwidth progression by adjusting the offset and phase sequence pattern for each signalized intersection. Most models and methods currently being used are based on mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), which is a mathematical optimization model originally formulated by Little et al. in 1966. A basic limitation of the MILP is that it adds a large number of complex constraints for traffic control networks. In this paper, a new simple method is introduced for finding the optimization plan of arterial and network control by maximization of variable bandwidth. This method has not any "loop" constraints and a completely new approach compares to the MILP method applied in this field. In addition, the results of two examples this paper provided validity and feasibility of this new approach in real applications of traffic signal coordination control.

Restriction Analysis of Residual Capacity of Intersection on Land Development Intensity
LIU Zhi-qiang,CHEN Jie, NI Jie,ZHANG Li
    2011, 11(1): 73-78 .
    Abstract ( )
At present, the common existing problem of Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) is that there is no control on land development intensity on the stage of approval. This paper evaluates the restriction of residual capacity of intersection on land development intensity. Intersection is frequently a bottleneck of urban road network. With estimation of the proportion of turning flow and consideration of traffic organization, this paper analyzes the production or attraction of the project impact on intersection, and the restricting relations between the residual capacity of intersection and land development intensity in a micro-level. It should form a “Traffic Impact Analysis Opinion” on land development during the process of control regulation adjustment, which can be regarded as a pre-supplementary evaluation for the TIA, to effectively control the “source” of traffic generation. Moreover, an example is used to illustrate the feasibility and operability of the proposed method.

Traffic Behavior Analysis of Non-motorized Vehicle under Influence of Curb Parking
    GUO Hong-wei,GAO Zi-you,ZHAO Xiao-mei,YANG Xiao-bao
    2011, 11(1): 79-84 .
    Abstract ( )
To analyze the lane-crossing behavior of non-motorized vehicles under the influence of curb parking, the lifetime data analysis method is adopted to examine the observed data for non-motorized vehicles. The concept named valid volume is introduced to describe the relation between the probability of lane-crossing behavior and non-motorized vehicle volume, evaluate the influence of curb parking, then a nonparametric method and a parametric method are used to estimate the model with censored data. The results indicate the curb parking has a significant influence on the traffic behavior of non-motorized vehicles. It can decrease the valid volume and increase the likelihood of lane-crossing behavior. The results are expected to help evaluate the influence of curb parking on non-motorized vehicles and improve the planning and management of curb parking.

Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows Based on Spatiotemporal Distance
    QI Ming-yao, DING Guo-xiang,ZHOU You,MIAO Li-xin
    2011, 11(1): 85-89 .
    Abstract ( )
Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (VRPTW) is a well known NP-hard problem. A typical way to solve this problem is to partition the customers into groups first and then construct optimal routes for each group or groups. Conventionally, customers are partitioned according to the spatial distance only, while ignoring their time window requirements. In this paper, we consider jointly spatial and temporal characteristics of customers and propose a spatiotemporal distance based criteria for customers partitioning. To improve the initial solution, a tabu search algorithm is developed. To improve the convergence efficiency, this algorithm limits the objective value ranges that around the recently visited solutions, Instead of limiting recently visited solutions, the performance of the proposed algorithm is examined with Solomon benchmark problems. The results indicate that spatiotemporal distance is more effective than spatial distance when solving vehicle routing problems with narrow time windows. Some results are even comparable to the best results obtained so far.

Network Optimization of RPTB Express Based on Ant Colony Algorithm
    YANG Zhong-zhen,ZOU Wen-qian
    2011, 11(1): 90-95 .
    Abstract ( )
As a sub-business of highway passenger transport, road passenger transport based express (RPTB) has obtained good benefits through relying on passenger transport. However, direct delivery restricts the capacity and structure of its transport network. In order to enhance the network capacity, improve network structure and strengthen the advantage of its timeliness, this paper proposes an idea of transfer delivery. Based on the idea, the paper optimizes the network structure of the RPTB express with the aim to minimize the transport time. Since the optimization model is a transport network design problem with a time window, the traditional algorithm cannot be used to solve the model. Thus, a heuristic algorithm-ant colony algorithm is used. Numerical examples indicate that the optimized transport network can save time and enhance the capacity of the RPTB express.

    2011, 11(1): 96-101 .
    Abstract ( )
Metro takes the most part of energy consumption in urban public service systems, it’s important to make the train movement in an energy-efficient way. Based on the characteristics of train movement and control rules of locomotive, an urban train running on an uneven rail with the specific run-time for minimal energy consumption can be formulated as a two-level hierarchical problem. On the first leve1, an optimization model is designed to decide the appropriate coasting point(s) and number(s) of inter-station run for energy-efficient urban train operation. On the second leve1, an optimization model of arranging the train travel time of inter-station run is presented for minimal energy consumption. Algorithms for solving the two-level optimization model are developed based on Genetic Algorithm. A case study shows that the two-level optimization model and algorithm are effective for energy-efficient urban train operation on a long-distance line with several sections. The result indicates that the two-level method can save energy 19.06% within scheduled run-time and enhance the recovery ability of train movement compared with traditional method.

    2011, 11(1): 102-107 .
    Abstract ( )
With the increasing of cars, the influences of bus stops on urban transportation have become increasingly prominent. The researches about the origin-destination of public transportation will help to optimize layout of bus stops, reduce the influences of origin-destination of public transportation on the traffic, and improve the traffic efficiency of bus station road. In this paper, basing on the nagel-schreckenberg models of traffic flow and using the two-lane aggressive lane-changing rule, the influence of the origin-destination of the public transportation on the urban bidirectional four-lane mixed traffic flow is simulated with the open boundary conditions. Taking the departure time interval, the inject probability and the location of the origin-destination of the public transportation. We get the reasonable value of the bus departure frequency and the location of public transportation, which can offer a practical reference to the improvement for the urban road traffic and the traffic management.

    2011, 11(1): 121-125 .
    Abstract ( )
With the continuous expansion of urban scale, the appearance of metro alleviates the problems of urban traffic congestion to some extent. Numbers of cities in China have been launched or are planning a number of new subway lines. How to assess the role of accessibility improvement about the subway for urban public transport, so as to provide theoretical support for making decisions in programming sites and distributing lines, is an urgent need for concern. Combining with the method of complex network, looking the bus stations as nodes and the connections between the sites as edges, the topology model of public transport network including metro lines in Nanjing is established. With the minimum number of sites between sites and the minimal transfer times as the measure indicators of transport accessibility, the accessibility effects of metro for urban public transportation network about Space L and Space P model are analyzed. The results show that the opening of the metro improves the overall accessibility of urban public transport network. The accessibility improvement of metro sites to other sites and commercial centers is more obvious.

    2011, 11(1): 126-129 .
    Abstract ( )
The decision-maker not only considers the competition with the existing logistics distribution centers but also predicts the future latent competitor when locating a new one, or else he will be inferior. A bi-level programming model on location for the decision-maker is modeled based on the frame of “the existing distribution centers-a new distribution center-a future competitor”. The objective of the upper model is to maximize the new distribution center’s market share in a given horizon, and the lower model is to maximize the future competitor’s. The market share is depicted by multinomial logit model whose observable item is the distance between the distribution center and the demander. A genetic algorithm is designed. At last an example illustrates the effectiveness of the model and the solution.
