Passing Stage Division of Bicycle Groups at Signalized Intersection

Abstract: In China, managing mixed traffic flow consisting of mobile, bicycle, and pedestrians at signalized intersection is one of the key measures to ensure a good traffic operation. Focusing on the bicycle groups at signalized intersection, the video capture technology is used to collect their passing characters at two intersections respectively in Beijing and Tianjin city. Through the K-means cluster analysis method, three criterions are selected to divide the passing stage: the average speed, width and length of bicycle groups at the two signalized intersections. The passing stage can be divided into three stages: gradually spreading stage, the expanding stage, and the gradually shrinking stage.

摘要: 我国城市信号交叉口处机动车、自行车和行人的混合交通流具有典型性. 对其有效的组织是保障交通通畅运行的关键措施之一. 本文以信号交叉口多辆自行车形成的自行车群为研究对象,选用视频采集技术获取自行车群在北京市和天津市两个信号交叉口的通行特性. 然后采用聚类分析的方法,用自行车群的平均速度、群的长度、群的宽度3个指标对两个信号交叉口自行车群通行阶段进行聚类划分. 结果表明,自行车群通过交叉口的过程可以分为3个阶段——群逐渐扩散阶段、膨胀阶段和逐渐收缩阶段.
