    2003, 3(4): 6-11 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (353KB) ( )
Based on comparative method, this paper discusses generalities and characteristics of highway construction progress in China and the United States from the aspects of construction speed and investment scale, and points out that our highway construction has entered into a developing
stage of high speed since 1996. Through quantitative analysis, in the following 18 years, i.e.,from 2003 to 2020, China’s highway construction will develop at a high speed of annual growth of 7.1 million kilometers (including 2500一2600 kilometers expressway) in highway mileage, and the
annual capital input level of highway construction investment should remain at 2%~3% of the GDP among which, it should keep above 2.5% before 2010 and 2%~2.5% after 2010.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (267KB) ( )
As one of the ITS’ important parts, the Intelligentized Parking Guidance Systems contributes much in the transportation management of the whole city. The system of this kind is in operation, but how to estimate the Effective Parking Space number in the future is a difficult problem. ITS Data Archiving Strategy Based-on Sampling Approach
    YU Lei, QIAO Feng-xiang, XU LI, CHEN Xu-mei,GENG Yan-bin,WU Jia-qing,YUAN Zhen-zhou
    2003, 3(4): 16-26 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (515KB) ( )
This paper presents an optimization-based sampling approach for data arching. This approach intends to identify the best representative samples of the raw ITS data based on either sum squire error(SSE) or cross validation(CV) while minimize the required storage size. The proposed approach is tested in the case study of TransGuide of San Antonio, Texas. After the proposed sampling approach is applied in the case study, only one tenth of the original data are needed to be stored, while the resulting optimal samples contain the maximum information of the raw data, which are able to meet the potential uses of various transportation purposes.

    2003, 3(4): 27-33 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (395KB) ( )
With the wide use and system integration of Intelligent Transportation System, traffic information and traffic states become more and more complexity and very difficult to deal with. This paper concentrates on the following three aspects:① analyses the features of ITS information, which include multi-source, heterogeneity and multi-levelness, and the dual-properties of traffic state, which include objectiveness, abstractness, certainty, continuity and subjectivity, concreteness, fuzziness, discreteness.② analyses the significance of information fusion and data mining and puts forward processing modes for ITS information process.③ puts forward the architecture for ITS information process, which integrates information fusion and data mining and could provide strong support for ITS applications.

Vehicle Recognition Based on 1 -- SVM
    SUN De- shan,WU Jin-pei
    2003, 3(4): 34-37 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (216KB) ( )
The Support Vector Machine (SVM) has shown excellent performance
in practice as a classification methodology, which were originally designed for binary classification. How to effectively extend SVM for multi-class classification is still an on-going research issue. Oftentimes multi-class classification problem have been treated as a series of binary problems in the SVM paradigm, but it is computationally more expensive to solve multi-class problems. In this paper, a new multi-class classification method is proposed based on one-class support vector machine (1-SVM), and then applies the method to vehicle recognition. The results of simulation experiments at vehicle database show that the proposed method is effective and feasible.

    2003, 3(4): 48-52 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (294KB) ( )
In order to discovert he principle of inhabitant trip distribution based on inhabitant income. Base on inhabitant trip distribution model by simulating electron cloud, we apply electronic energy level theory to trip distribution theory and found inhabitant trip distribution model to describe
the relationship between inhabitant income and trip distance. The data of NPTS in American has been used to validate it. This model can be used to describe macro principle of development of city extension.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (275KB) ( )
The relation between average speeds of vehicles observed by time and distance on traffic network is presented by invoking the property of a distribution variance. A parameterized validation approach for the BPR form volume delay function is applied to real situation. A kind of somewhat dual Braess’ paradox for the relation of network travel costs and demand is demonstrated

    2003, 3(4): 69-73 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (262KB) ( )
Urban traffic control models are one of the basic tools for the analysis and design of transportation systems. The author develops a urban traffic control model and derives the optimality conditions of traffic control by optimization theory and Lagrangian function. Traffic control model is formulated as an equilivalent variational inequality where the variables are green time of phases of in teractions.

In this paper, mobile database technique and data warehouse technique are presented, especially applied to mobile information platform and the sharing information platform. Then, the conclusions have been drawn that the database technique is so important that it impenetrates almost
the whole areas of ITS. And we think that the ITS will achieve the new developments following the development of the database technique.

    2003, 3(4): 82-88 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (336KB) ( )
According to the characteristic that customer demand less
Quantity and more times, an optimal model which consolidated stock replenishment and delivery scheduling was modeled to compute upper-level inventory Q and delivery cycle T,as well as to minimize long-run average cost in VMI-systems. Solution of this model also was researched. As example show, it is appropriate to take delivery Consolidation strategy when and AD are large, whereas, direct delivery strategy is appropriate.
