A New Algorithm for Estimation of Origin-Destination
    Demands from Link Traffic Flows
    Gao Zi-you, SI Bing-feng
    2002, 2(1): 30-41 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (573KB) ( )
In this paper, an augmented user equilibrium model and solving algorithm are proposed and then a new approach for the O-D matrix estimation problem from link traffic flows
is also proposed. The algorithm is required only the variable of link flows, not necessary to calculate and store the variable of path flows. so the new algorithm may be applied to largescale transportation network problems. The Numerical examples are used to illustrate the applications of the proposed algorithm.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (239KB) ( )
A platform of urban traffic simulation system is designed. This system adopts a kind of structure which combines the advantage of two kinds of structure: the hierarchy model
and the plug-in model. It mainly includes four sub-systems: the network presentation, the traffic control simulation, the vehicle driving simulation and the analysis system. This system can meet the requirement of integrality and generality.

Dynamic Control of Traffic Signal in an Urban Junction Based on Genetic Algorithms
    LI Yan, FAN Xiao-ping
    2002, 2(1): 49-53 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (252KB) ( )
In this paper, a real-time dynamic model of multiphase traffic flow is established for an urban junction, and the optimal phase timings and phase orders are developed according to the different traffic flows in different time of a day. Meanwhile, an optimal real-time control
method with genetic algorithm (GA) is presented. The traffic flow in next cycle is estimated via linear pre-estimation method, and the maximum traffic capability is used as the control capability index. so the next cycle timing schedule is determined based on the real-time measured traffic flows in current cycle and the cycle just before. The simulation experiment is carried out with MATLAB language, and the simulation results show that the real-time optimized capability is satisfactory.

Yangtze River is Golden Channel,Playing a Key
Role for Shanghai International Shipping Centre
    REN Xian-zheng
    2002, 2(1): 79-81 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (183KB) ( )
It is positive significance of the Yangtze River shipping development to Shanghai International Shipping Center, but the potential of present golden channel has not been
exploited. To exert the predominance that the Yangtze River shipping has. the key is to activate the Yangtze’s drainage areas, to reduce the transportation cost. And the breaking
though point is to renew the ships. Therefore. we must strengthen the communication and cooperation of the Yangtze River Navigation Group, Shanghai and of her cities along the river, establish uniformly and effectively harmonized system, exchange ports plan information each other. collaborate mutually, and occupy different sides of the market. To stop the descent of economy in Yangtze River shipping, we should base transportation price and transportation service on a fine circulation, which is a reasonable payment with a high quality service.
combined with the characteristic of the development of container feeding for transportation in Yangtze River, the urgent affairs are to promote optimized standard types of ship, which may go directly to sea or river economically and adapt for navigating sections with modern communication technology.
