Abstract: The Fifth Advanced Forum on Transportation of China sets its theme as “building integrated transportation system under economic crisis”. This year’s Forum takes place when the world is swept by the economic crisis. However, China’s initiatives to tackle this economic tsunami by stimulating the domestic demand to grow the economy and enforcing a policy of speeding the infrastructural construction have created a major opportunity for the construction and development of its integrated transportation system. State-of-art and future direction of China’s intelligent transportation system are analyzed based on reviewing international latest trend. The development of integrated transportation and countermeasures against this economic crisis are introduced, along with progress of “transit oriented city” in China. Ideas about development of highway, railway, waterway, civil aviation, and ocean transportation are also proposed and deeply discussed at the Forum.
