It’s generally thought that advanced traveler information system(ATIS) can help reduce traffic congestion and improve commuters’ travel quality. But in fact, the endogenous ATIS market penetration is concerned with the travel time savings, yet a high level of market penetration could possibly reduce the benefits gained from ATIS service. Discussed the ATIS market penetration problem. First conducted the introduction of ATTS market penetration problem, and some important concepts, then introduced the achievments in resent years. Finally discussed some problems in these researches, propose same open problems and future research directions, and some approaches to solve them.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (1767KB) ( )
The 450MHz analogue wireless communication systems are incompetent, to meet urgent requirements of the mobile train operation safety data communication. What’s more, the upcoming GSM-R of China Railway serves mainly for train dispatching, which cannot meet the requirements too. By the integration of such mobile technologies as orthogonal frequency division multiply (OFDM),wireless local network (WLAN),mobile IP, an innovative design of wireless data communication system for China Railway is proposed in this paper. This system can implement 4.86Mbps data rate and tolerate 2.5 s time delay spread.

    2006, 6(1): 51-54 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (2005KB) ( )
n this paper, a handwritten radical recognizer, with the purpose of obtaining reliable radicals in online Chinese words or sentences recognition task, was designed based on a hybrid method of Level-Building (LB) and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm. Radicals were considered as mid-patterns between strokes and continuous handwritten script in the recognizer. A handwritten radical set was established in terms of handwritten script characteristics. Adjacent stroke relative feature vector sequences were put into the grid point matching process of DTW in each level of LB structure. The test samples include 303 handwritten sequences and 6 763 Chinese characters. It is shown that the radical set could be in effect between strokes and a handwritten sequence, 86.47% of recognition rate is obtained.

FENG Shu - min, LI Xiao - dong
    2006, 6(1): 68-70 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1594KB) ( )
Transit ridership forecast is an important component of transit planning, and is the basis to determine the scale of transit development, locations of stops and transit routes. The paper analyzes the mechanism of neural network and influential factors of transit generation. A three-layer BP neural network model is developed to forecast transit riders, in which the input nerve cells include land use type (8 nerve clells), population and section location coefficient, the output nerve cells include transit generation and attraction, and the number of nerve cells of concealed layer is calculated with the model in which the maximum fractional error reaches the minimum value. The model is calibrated and testified with one-day field data from Harbin, which shows that the forecast precision of the model is relatively high.

    2006, 6(1): 71-74 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (2039KB) ( )
During the development of transportation industry, the change Of industry structure could cause the change of transportation structure. This paper makes a quantitative study of the correlation of the industry structure and transportation structure by using cause and effect relationship test of the entropy theory. The results shows that the change of industry structure has nothing to do with the structure of freight quantity, but has causal relationship with the structure of freight turnover quantity. This paper aims to provide new methods for researching the correlation of the structure of industry and transportation.

A Cooperative Simulation Algorithm of Driver’s Behavior
    Based on Multi-Information Fusion
    WANG Lei,WANG Xiao-yuan,YANG Xin-yue
    2006, 6(1): 86-90 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (2030KB) ( )
The traffic simulation is the important research means to Evaluate and optimize the traffic control and the traffic management. The characteristic of the multi-information stimulation, the task concentration of the driver, and the cooperative reaction behavior are not considered synthetically in the traditional microscopic traffic simulation model, especially for the car-following model which is used to portray the driver’s behavior. In this paper, the fuzzy integral and Bayes methods are used to describe the process of the multi-information fusion of the driver in the complex running environment. At the same time, these methods are also applied to the driver’s behavior after the task concentration. The model test shows that the two algorithms are effective to simulate the task concentration and the cooperative reaction before the car-following model is implemented.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (1730KB) ( )
Fractal geometry, a new mathematical branch, is a powerful theoretic tool which may be applied to deal with irregular graphs in the nature and engineering. This paper introduces the application of fractal interpolation function graphs to traffic flow curves varing strongly with time. First, fractal interpolation method is applied to simulate entire function graph of traffic flow with the measured discrete time-flow coordinate data. Afterwards, we put forward fractal prediction method by fractal interpolation function and the fact that traffic flow statistically possesses self-similar character to effectively interpret future traffic data. Finally, we suggest directions for further work.

Some Rational Views on BRT and Rail Transit System
    QUAN Yong-shen, SUN Zhuang-zhi
    2006, 6(1): 111-117 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (3503KB) ( )
Due to the large investment and long construction period, it is hard for rail transit system to form a relative large scale network in a short period so as to become the backbone of the urban public transport system. So, influence by successful bus rapid transit (BRT) lines in many big cities of the world, in recent years, a lot of domestic cities have begun to pay more and more attention to BRT. As a result, many BRT lines are being planned and constructed. Facing the new situation, how to identify the function orientation of BRT? How to plan and build BRT lines well with its inherent functions and technical properties? This paper presents some rational views on these confusing questions.

    ZHANG Peng,HANG Zeng-lin
    2006, 6(1): 123-127 .
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1933KB) ( )
This paper analyzes the basic status quo of Liaoning’s highway network,Based on the methods of Hausdorff fractal dimension and space relation fractal dimension, the paper advances calculation models on the fractal dimension and the arriving degree of network of Liaoning’s highway network. The results have deminstrate that the Hausdorff fractal dimension is comparatively low and the space relation fractal dimension is high according to the ratio. The conclusions point out that Liaoning’s highway network should shift its focus from increasing its arriving degree to improving its line grade so as to decrease its transport time and increase transport volume.
