    Discussions on Some Issues of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for Traffic and Transportation of China

    The last five years witnessed a significant development in China’s transport industry.Its experiences and achievements will render an important basis and a threshold for the transport plan of the next five years. This paper reviews the growth of the investment,the infrastructure construction and the transport capacity and volume in China’s transport in the Tenth Five—Year Plan period.It analyzes the current development trends as well as its problems.From the perspective of transport demands,it illustrates the features of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for Transport.The paper then proposes objectives of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for Transport and describes the key areas of the country’s transport development and construction.Finally, the paper makes a preliminary study of the principles and policy orientations of formulating the relevant supporting measures.

    This article is some research results of the national tenth-five year science and technology program. Analysis on ITS development and the difference between that in China and other foreign countries are presented.Then,the necessity of research on ITS evaluation in China is induced.The article discussed the characteristics and difficulties in evaluating ITS.Three-dimensional ITS evaluation framework is put forward based on three dimensions structure by A D Hall.ITS evaluation methods,including Cost benefit analysis,cost effectiveness analysis, and object-oriented method are provided, with a detailed analysis of applicability of each method.Finally, future development trend of ITS evaluation is also presented and the important role of Experimental Traffic Engineering in ITS evaluation is emphasized.

    With a review on the development of the road toll collection technology,this paper discusses in detail about the technical mechanism of the new-generation toll collection system based on Vehicle Positioning System(VPS)and its application in the developed countries and areas.By compared with the traditional Electrical Toll Collection system (ETC),this paper also analyzes the advantages and defects of the new system and forecasts its application.It could be concluded that the system is advanced indeed,but in terms of application,it should be combined with the local conditions,such as social, economic,and technical features of diffierent countries.At present,demands and obstacle for the system application coexists in China,which is at the right stage of rapid transport infrastructure development.Therefore,the system should be equipped with competent laws,policies,and measures in order to achieve its successful application in China.

    With the development of society and economy,the conflict between the supply and demand in urban traffic is becoming more and more serious,and has resulted in many traffic problems.The traffic flow is similar to the information flow in communication network.This paper puts forward a dynamic management system based on traffic lights control.It introduces the theory of flow controlled in communication network and topology in computer graphics to the management of traffic flow according to traffic characteristics and problems.The authors bring forward algorithm on how to optimize traffic flow,and how to avoid traffic jams.This idea can help department of traffic management create scheme automatically and change the distribution of traffic flow in cities,thus it can deracinate or mitigate traffic jams according to traffic flow in real time.So it can optimize the traffic management in cities.

    Study and Application of Traffic Direction Changing Algorithm for Urban Tide Traffic Situation

    Recently in some large cities,because of inappropriate layout of living area and working area,tide traffic phenomenon occurs in some main roads and thus has become an important reason for traffic congestion.especially during rush hours.So in this paper, based on Tide Traffic Control for in Shanghai Outlines Cross-River Tunnel project,a new algorithm based on ordinal samples cluster method and non parametric regression method is proposed.This algorithm can adjust the traffic direction of direction-changeable lanes automatically and timely by analysis of current traffic flow and short-term forecasted traffic flow of two tunnel entrances.so that all lanes in the turnnel could be used to the fullest.Field tests and user reports show efficiency of this algorithm by 30% increase of average traffic capability, 10% increase of rush hour traffic capability and 40% decrease of average queue length.

    To resolve the questions of limited information, unable to consider individuation demand of different driver and realize the contact of system and user,which exists in majority parking guidance system,from the angle of in-vehicle parking route guidance.the paper puts forward the technology on parking guidance route optimization based on parking lot choice.Finally,validated forecast method combined with real data of Changchun Guolian parking lot.The paper studies the theory and idea of route optimization technology based on Parking Guidance System.the demarcation and test of model and the arithmetic processes. The method of the paper could primely fetches up the current questions and then supplies the optimal parking lot and the optimal route to the parking lot.

    Research in Vehicle Routing Problem Based on Hybrid Genetic Algorithm

    In the paper,after analyzing genetic algorithm’s limit in detail,it forms a hybrid genetic algorithm to solve vehicle routing problem,which consists of genetic algorithm and tabu search algorithm.The key of the hybrid genetic algorithm is inserting tabu search algorithm into mutation operation and solution determination of genetic algorithm .It can avoid genetic algorithm’s “premature”convergence effectively.Then it solves the same example with genetic algorithm and the hybrid genetic algorithm,and compares their solutions.The results indicate that the hybrid genetic algorithm has better convergence rate,and its solution is much closer to optimal solution.

    The continuum modeling approach to transportation models is now gaining much attention because of its advantages in dealing with dense-network models,macroscopic problems,and initial phase planning. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the development and applications of the two-dimensional continuum modeling approach.We first discuss the theoretical development and models with specific or arbitrary region configurations,and then review the applications of the continuum modeling approach to the determination of facility location,route choice,pedestrian flow,and policy and socio-economical analysis. Finally,we propose some prospective directions for future research.

    In this paper,several technologies are introduced and analyzed in accident reconstruction,including pedestrian,bicyclist and bicycle models,in which the research actuality,existent problems and progress status of the mathematical model ale also scientifically scrutinized and dissertated.Analog collision test ground of vehicle/pedestrians is conducted by PC—Crash,according to various vehicle styles,vehicle/pedestrians side collision,and rear collision,scrape collision as well as bicycle/bicyclist collision throwing distance model is established in the paper to simulate the test data.In conventional throwing models,it usually employs brake when the vehicles collide,while the situation that driver doesn’t put on the brakes in car-pedestrian collision accident is also analyzed in this paper,as well as the vehicle/pedestrians high collision model is approached.At the same time,the paper will play certain guidance significances for advance in term s of traffic reconstruction research field.

    Application of Auction Algorithm for Shortest Paths in Traffi c Assignment

    The auction algorithm is a new and simple algorithm for finding shortest paths in a directed graph proposed by Prof.Bertsekas and has been extended and applied to a variety of linear network flow problems. rhe auction algorithm for shortest paths was introduced and its characteristics were analyzed.The auction algorithm was compared with other algorithms widely used such as label-setting algorithm and label-correcting algorithm.The auction algorithm is suitable for the parallel implementation and the solution of the large-scale sparse network.These fulfill the properties of actual road network and the requirements of the traffic assignment. The algorithm is easy to realize by procedures.Through a variety of measures to improve and speed up the basic algorithm,the computation speed can increase several times.The auction algorithm can be well suitable for kinds of traffic assignment methods.It can be used efficiently in the case of multiple origins and a single destination,and a single origin and multiple destinations.Different origin set and destination set are determined in accordance with the requirement of the traffic assignment.It is not required to find the shortest paths connecting any node pairs,so a lot of computation amount can be avoided and computing time can be reduced by the use of the auction algorithm in the traffic assignment.Auction algorithms can be broadly applied in the transportation fields.

    An artificial transportation system is a new type of traffic simulation software that employs agent modeling,distributed computing and concept of artificial societies to support the research and development in transportation.In this paper,models of vehicles,transportation infrastructures and a shopping center are described first,and the design and implementation of the basic ideas of artificial transportation systems based on a framework using P2P computing platform JXTA are stated in steps.Future work and issues related to operational mechanisms and strate.gies for such implementation are also addressed.

    Dynamic Vehicle Routing and Scheduling with Variable Travel Time

    According to the heavy traffic congestion during the development of city construction,this paper presents two types of vehicle routing and scheduling problems and gives the solving frameworks.A dynamic vehicle routing and scheduling model with variable time is presented,which includes three types of cost:fixed vehicle costs,vehicle operating costs that are proportional to the time traveled and spent waiting at customers,and early arrival or delay penalties for designated pickup/delivery times at customers.The problem is NP-hard.,This study adopts genetic algorithms for identifying the optimal solutions. The model was applied to a test road network with different congested conditions.Results indicated that the total cost decreased by implanting the dynamic vehicle routing and scheduling model with real time travel time compared with that of the forecast model.

    Transfer organizations of public transportation hubs have played a more important role in urban transportation managenments and plannings.VISSIM as a micro-simulation software is constructed to model the transfer processes of pedestrians in the Xizhimen public transportation hub in this paper.Four problems are found in the case study as following:serous disturbance between pedestrians and traffic flow,long transfer distance,bus waiting time and large traffic flow density.Some improved methods,such as increasing the departing frequency of buses,constructing the passing-street establishments for pedestrians,decreasing transfer distances,are proposed to solve the existing problems in this paper.Simulation results denote that the proposed methods in this paper are valuable in improving the efficiency of transfer organizations of the Xizhimen public transportation hub.

    An Improved Winters Model for Airline Demand Forecast

    Improves the precision of the segment demand forecast is the important research topic in aviation revenue management system.Used the EM algorithm[2] to restore the historical demand which had constained by resource,then obtain the more precise demand data.The tickets of the scheduled flight can book advance.So centralized the segment’s historical booking data into a booking matrix for using more known information and decrease the amount of the data to forecast.Then used the Winters model to forecast the segment demand.Calculated the data within the segment from Chengdu to Gangzhou,the average error of the experimental results is 4.9 percents,and the average error of the Winters model is 21.7 percents,and the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method has been illustrated by the experiment.

    Traffic volume forecast means trendy traffic volume forecast conventionally.But when we forecast the traffic volume of some roads involved in read improvement preject it should include trendy traffic volume forecast,induce trffic volume forecast and transfer transfer volume forecast.Bases on the Four Stages method,this paper brings up a new method that can forecast the transfer traffic volume when there are road improvement preject in urban road network.The main content of this method includes:brings up a method of dividing traffic district while forecasting the transfer traffic volume,points out that it must use gravity model to forecast the transfer traffic volume, and brings up methods of calculating the traffic impedance when using gravity mode1.The method was used to calculate the traffic volume of Xiamen road network by using traffic software“Transtar".The result shows that the method is effective.

    Permanent-Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor Model Using NDEKF Neural Network on Hession

    The modeling of permanent-magnet linear synchronous motor is very important to the control and the static and dynamic characters analysis of the system.First,the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs model is expanded into the polynomial function,then the condition which true ranks satisfy is presented by using residual signal analysis.In order to overcome the shortages that the design of network structure is depended on one’s own personal experience,Hession-based network pruning is used to get the optimization network structures. Some shortages of BP(back-propagation algorithm) are considered,so NDEKF((node-decoupled extend/Kalman filter) is applied to train networks.The experiment results show that the hybrid neural networks of the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs can identified object’s(a vertical transport system driven by permanent-magnet linear synchronous motor) ranks precisely,and the output of networks is very close to the experimental result.In the experiments,the perform ance of NDEKF is often superior to that of BP,while requiring significantly fewer presentations of training data than BP and less over training time than that of BP.

    VRP(Vehicle Routing Problem)is a well-known NP-Hard problem in the Combination and Optimization field.In this paper,a mathematical model has been built for VRP,and a modified genetic algorithm has been developed after a number of experiments.The results of computer program runs showed that we can obtain excellcent solution with the new algorithm rapidly.

    Some Studies of the Accessibility of Large Aeronautic Hub

    To analyze the performance of the surface transportation system of large aeronautic hub quantitatively,the paper presents at first the meaning of the accessibility of an airport and the importance of researching it.For evaluating the accessibility,the paper uses a new concept called the cost of access,which is described as money. It includes three parts as the time,the traffic fare and the cost related to comfort,which is the most abstract and difficult to quantify.To solve this problem,the paper proposes to use a new variable which means “the time for recovering from fatigue and discomfort”. After multiplying the coefficients of importance which denote the proprieties of different types of people,we can calculate the average of the cost of access,which finally,describes the accessibility. For calibrating two crucial coefficients,the paper proposes to use the logit Model.At last,the paper gives some examples of a simple calculation for the Shanghai Pu Dong Airport,and compares it with another two international airports.The conclusion is: Comfort is an important factor which cannot be neglected.Airports in China need to improve their accessibilities compared with other international ones.

    Urban railway passenger forecast is the basis of urban railway network plan ,which is important to determine railway network dimensions and distribution,train figuration,operation,and economic evaluation.This paper introduces the application of disaggregated activity-based model to forecast railway passenger in Beijing Metro Line 5.Activity-based forecast method researches people’s behaviour.A chain of activities describes the order of different activities during a person’s run of the day.It is more reasonable than other approaches used in passenger forecast.This paper introduces the application of activity-based method in Beijing Metro Line 5 passenger forecast in detail,then presents the forecast results.

    The relation between railway freight volume and its influence factors is complex and nonlinear.The BP Neural Network can simulate the nonlinearr system perfectly, but its forecast ability is deficient.The unsteadiness of the time series of railway freight volume and its influence factors are proved by unit root test.With the analysis of the transfer funcfion,an improved BP Neural Network model is built on the basis of using the diference method to deal with the input data.At last.the effectiveness of the new model in railway freight volume forecast is proved through an experimental computation,and then the railway freight volume in 2006—2010 years is forecast by the mode1.
